It’s all paying off! The amount of time the students are spending on reading and AR testing is the pay off to which I am referring. I am in the process of updating the Reading Monitoring Guide (RMG) for all of my students. Their growth in reading has been substantial. I always worry at the beginning of the year that I’ll never get the students’ reading levels where they need to be. Yet each year, the reading levels somehow manage to increase to where they need to be. That is increase to at least meet or exceed standards on the test. The test is the Criterian Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) which the students in Georgia must pass in order to be promoted to 4th grade. The CRCT is the test Georgia’s schools use to meet or not meet AYP.
